If your animal has been treated by your veterinarian for the condition proir to consultation with the complementary practitioner, this second opinion practitioner will require a veterinary history from your veterinarian, together with the results of any tests which have been performed. This is an ethical requirement. It is also recommended that you ask your veterinarian for a referral to the complementary practitioner even if he/she has not seen your animal for the condition, as this communication ensures that your veterinarian is fully aware of the treatment being given.
